It is with pleasure that I invite you to attend the XXVTH Scientific Meeting of the Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology Inc. (ASCCP) in Sydney from the 16th – 19th March 2017. We have an excellent panel of invited speakers, both international and local, and I am sure you will not be disappointed with the scientific and social programmes. The venue for the meeting is the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, Australia.

The main emphasis of the meeting will be the renewed cervical screening program and the program will include sessions on:

- HPV vaccination
- Cervical Screening issues from both USA and UK presented by our Overseas Speakers
- The Australian Cervical Screening renewal including:
New management guidelines
HPV testing
Laboratory quality assurance
Colposcopy quality assurance
The national screen register
- Self-sampling
- HPV disease other than cervix - anus and oropharyngeal

SPEAKERS

PROFESSOR WARNER HUH (USA)

Warner K. Huh, MD is Professor and Division Director in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and the Margaret Cameron Spain Endowed Chair in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and a Senior Scientist in the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research interests revolve around screening and prevention of HPV related diseases as well as novel immunotherapeutic approaches for pre-invasive disease of the cervix as well as cervical cancer. He has authored or co-authored over 150 articles including numerous publications in the area of prophylactic HPV vaccination including the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Lancet Oncology, Cancer, Clinical Cancer Research, Gynecologic Oncology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is the prior recipient of an R01 research grant from the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute (RO1CA133749-01) and an American Cancer Society Research Scholars Grant. Both of these grants were in the area of HPV vaccination.   He serves as co-PI of the Johns Hopkins-UAB Cervical Cancer Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) program (2P50CA098252-06A1). Two of the major projects in this SPORE program are based on novel preventive HPV vaccines. Dr. Huh serves on the editorial boards of Gynecologic Oncology and The Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease.  He currently sits on the Board of Directors for SGO and the Executive Committee for the ASCCP.  Dr. Huh is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Cervical and Uterine Cancers Panel.

PROFESSOR RITU NAYAR (USA)

Dr Ritu Nayar is a Professor of Pathology and Director of Cytopathology at Northwestern University, Feinberg school of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, USA.  She is Past President of the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC), a member of the Executive Council of the International Academy of Cytology (IAC) and a Trustee for the American Board of Pathology (ABP).

Dr. Nayar’s clinical practice includes anatomic pathology, administration, teaching and translational research.  She has published over 150 journal articles/book chapters and edited 7 books. Her special interests include gynecologic and thyroid pathology and she is co-editor of the second and third editions of the Bethesda System Atlas for Reporting Cervical Cytology, a contributing author for the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology atlas and wrote the Preface for The Paris System for Reporting Urinary Cytology atlas. Dr Nayar has been actively involved in organized Pathology for over 25 years, having chaired and served on several committees, in a number of major professional  organizations, including the ASC, ASCP, ABP, CAP, USCAP, IAC and the NCI.  She currently serves as section editor or editorial board member for eight pathology journals and is a frequent guest speaker and moderator at National and International Pathology Meetings.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Submissions are invited for oral presentations in free communications sessions at the meeting. Abstracts should be no more than 250 words and be submitted by the 20th of December, 2016.

Papers submitted by authors considered to be early career investigators will be considered for the $1,000 President’s Prize, which is awarded at the discretion of the President. As far as possible, the data presented in the abstract should not have been published or presented at another major meeting. If previously presented, the author(s must indicate where and when the data has been reported. All abstracts will be subjected to peer review by specialists in the field.

It is a condition of submission that the presenting author of the abstract must register their attendance and pay the registration fee by the early bird registration deadline of 14th December 2016. We regret that abstracts will be excluded from the program and abstract publication if your registration is not received by this date.

Sydney airport is 12kms from the hotel. Allow 30 minutes by Taxi (off-peak).

Sydney Airport is located 27 minutes by train from the Sofitel Wentworth. There are train stations located at both the International and Domestic terminals, which operate as part of the Airport Link train service. Trains from platform 1 will take you to Wynyard Station where it is only a short walk to Sofitel Wentworth.
